Program Technology Becomes Artistic Appreciator

We humans may think that we have the advantage of machine, when it comes to art appreciation, but computer scientists are perfecting the program and have bright eyes.
To do this, Lawrence’s researchers found a way to break the personal exhibition “Digital Image Context Descriptors.” They performed this operation on 34 works by 34 famous artists. Then, computer algorithms delibrate all the paintings based on visual content alone, one without input.
The program can identify the differences between modern art and classical realism, and find out the specific group of painters. The algorithm is based on visual content similar to that of Michelangelo, Raphael, and Leonardo da Vinci, art historians who were classified as high Renaissance painters, to the same group. The Baroque painters Johannes Vermeer, Peter Paul Rubens, were able to do the same thing.
In a similar way, the sort of computer surrealist painter Salvador Dalí, George de Chirico in the same category, was grouped together after the impressionist painters Paul Gauguin and Cezanne et al. In a narrower way, it can also be used for such pattern recognition.
In 2007, computer scientists at Haifa University in Israel trained computers to identify a particular artist.
Although still in its infancy, analysis of computer vision and the arts may prove useful one day to help curators detect fakes. Now, the program can recognize real-time in the drawing. As a user draws on a tablet or computer, the application gradually returns to the drawing.
