The collapse of a void in the construction section of the Wuhan subway did not affect the subway pit

At about 7 a.m. yesterday morning, about 4 square meters of road surface collapse occurred on the construction site of Guangzhuo Tuan Station of the first phase of Wuhan Metro Line 2 Line. The construction unit then urgently backfills and handles dangerous situations.

At noon yesterday, the reporter rushed to the scene. The collapsed area was located in front of Huazhong Normal University. After the collapsed road was backfilled, it was covered with rain cloth. The construction party claimed that this measure was to prevent the infiltration of rainwater and cause it to collapse again.

Witnesses stated that he worked in an office building near the site. At 8 o'clock in the morning, he inadvertently saw through the company's windows. The subway construction site collapsed and exposed the dirt beneath the road.

In this regard, the relevant staff of the Wuhan Metro Group stated that at 7 o'clock in the morning yesterday, during the operation of the construction workers, they discovered that the road surface suddenly collapsed in the baffle at the western end of No. 1 wind tunnel at Guangyutun Station, and the ground surface on the outside of the pit had appeared. About 4 square meters of empty space. The company's on-site project department immediately organized the construction unit and used bag cement and concrete backfill. After about 4 hours of emergency treatment, 11 am, the backfill of surface voids was completed.

Subsequently, the company monitored the site and determined that the local collapse of the road surface did not cause any adverse impact on the foundation pit and its surrounding roads and ground buildings.

According to the staff, the reason for the collapse may be that the surface water formed a waterway around the relocated water pipe and scoured the foundation pit to protect the soil between the piles, resulting in local soil erosion. At present, effective measures have been taken and protection has been taken.
