Installing a bottom screw-in tap might seem tricky at first, but with the right tools and a bit of patience, it's actually quite straightforward. Here are some tips and tricks to help you through the process smoothly!
If you're having trouble following the steps below, don't worry — we’ve put together a clear guide to make things easier for you.
Tools you’ll need:
To start, turn your drum so that the bottom bung is facing up. This is crucial to prevent any liquid from spilling during the process. Once the bottom bung is facing up, use the end of your drum spanner to twist it open. You’ll notice there’s a piece of plastic behind it, which is designed to prevent leaks during transportation. Once the bottom bung has been removed, take your knife and begin cutting a square shape into the drum. The center of the drum is the hardest part to cut, so cutting a square is recommended. (refer to pic 2)
After you've cut most of the way through, use your flathead screwdriver to push the cut section inward once three sides are open. If one side is only partially cut, you can gently push it toward the inside of the drum. (refer to pic 3)
Once you have a clean hole in the drum, you can proceed to install the drum tap. (refer to pic 4)
