Here are some helpful tips and tricks on how to install our bottom screw tap! Whether you're a first-time user or just need a refresher, this guide will walk you through the process step by step.
If you're having trouble following the steps below, don't worry — we've got you covered. Let's get started!
Tools we use:
To begin, make sure the drum is positioned so that the bottom bung is facing up. This is crucial to prevent any liquid from spilling during the process. Once it’s in the right position, use the end of your drum spanner to twist open the bung. After removing it, you’ll see a piece of plastic behind it — this is there to prevent leaks during transport. Once the bottom bung has been removed, use your knife to cut a square shape into the drum. The center is the hardest part to cut, so cutting a square is recommended for easier access. (refer to pic 2)
After you’ve cut most of the way through, use the flathead screwdriver to help push the edges inward once three sides are open. If one side is only partially cut, you can gently push it toward the inside of the drum. (refer to pic 3)
Once there is a clean hole in the drum, you can now install the bottom screw tap. Make sure it’s securely fastened and properly aligned. (refer to pic 4)
