I was driving through West Allis this morning when I came across a pretty intense scene. A garage on one of the side streets had caught fire earlier that morning, and the firefighters were still hard at work trying to get it under control. It’s always tough to see places you know go up in flames like that—it feels personal, even if it’s not your property.

The whole area smelled like burnt wood and plastic for blocks around. You could hear the sirens long before you got close enough to see the smoke. It’s one of those moments where you stop and think about how quickly things can change—how something as simple as a spark or an electrical fault can turn into total destruction in minutes.
