3-Alarm fire in Maywood, 8-17-16 (more)

This is a message from Steve Redick: On Wednesday, August 17th, 2016, I responded to a fire call in Maywood. By the time we got there, it had already escalated to a third alarm situation, mostly due to the lack of manpower and the need for relief. The structure was a large, seemingly unoccupied wooden house. From what I could see, there was significant fire damage on the exterior, and it seemed to have spread to a small one-story commercial building in Sector 2. When I first arrived, there were quite a few firefighters working the trucks, which was pretty intense. All the photos and a short video documenting the incident can be viewed here. These pictures really capture the scale of the operation and the hard work put in by everyone involved. Here’s a brief overview of what you’ll find in the images: - Firefighters climbing a ground ladder at the scene. - A Spartan fire truck from Maywood standing by, ready to assist. - Firefighters on an aerial ladder dealing directly with the flames coming from the roof. - A Hillside Fire Department engine parked strategically to support the efforts. - Firefighters engaged in overhaul work after the main blaze has been contained. - An E-ONE Bronto Skylift being used to reach high areas effectively. - More shots of firefighters continuing their overhaul tasks, ensuring no hidden embers remain. - A firefighter on the roof dealing with lingering smoke issues. - Additional images showcasing the overall coordination and teamwork required during such incidents. It was a challenging day, but seeing everyone come together made it worthwhile. The teamwork and dedication of the crew were inspiring, especially given the circumstances. Steve
