On Tuesday afternoon (June 4, 2019), Prospect Heights firefighters responded to a single-vehicle accident on the express lanes of Palatine Road, located just west of Wolf Road. A brand-new Cadillac SUV had ended up precariously on the embankment after crashing through and getting stuck in an open section of curbing that was being dug out for replacement. The driver, who was alone in the vehicle, didn’t report any injuries but was unable to exit the car unassisted. Firefighters quickly arrived on the scene and helped the driver safely out of the vehicle, after which paramedics evaluated them to ensure they were okay.
While this incident was unfolding, many residents couldn't help but notice the newly acquired vehicle for Prospect Heights Battalion 9, which had been recently put into service. This impressive addition to their fleet can be seen in several accompanying photos.
