Maywood Box Alarm 2-19-12

The Maywood Fire Department responded to a serious fire early Sunday morning in a vacant three-story building located at 907 S. 3rd Ave. As crews arrived on the scene, they quickly assessed the situation and pulled a Box Alarm due to heavy fire in the attic and on the top floor. Both Maywood and Melrose Park fire departments were dispatched and worked side by side to bring the blaze under control. Gordon J. Nord, Jr., a local photographer, was on the scene and captured several powerful images that showcase the intensity of the fire and the efforts of the firefighters. His photos provide a rare and dramatic look at the emergency response.
