During the 11th Five-Year Plan period, China's agricultural, water conservancy, energy, transportation, information technology, construction, and environmental protection sectors experienced rapid growth. This expansion created a huge demand for mechanical equipment to support industrial development. It is estimated that by 2010, annual demand for hydraulic excavators will reach 60,000 to 80,000 units, bulldozers (over 120 horsepower) will be nearly 10,000 units, loaders will reach 100,000 to 120,000 units, and road rollers will see around 1.5 million units. Additionally, there will be approximately 20,000 construction cranes, 80,000 forklifts, and nearly 10,000 cement mixers needed annually.
China currently has about 1.4 million pieces of engineering machinery, with projections indicating this number will rise to 2 million by 2010. Moreover, domestic companies import approximately 150 million U.S. dollars worth of hydraulic components each year, particularly for excavators, road construction machinery, and cement mixers.
