It's hard to believe that Wayne L. Stuart, a man who always seemed so full of life, left us far too soon. He passed away suddenly on Tuesday, August 25, 2020, at his home in Orland Park, where he had lived for the last three decades. Prior to that, he called Calumet City home. Wayne was not only a beloved husband to Sandra Stuart but also a cherished brother to Barbara Stuart. Nephews John (Dr. Mary) Fitzgibbon and Scott (Lindsay) Fitzgibbon fondly remember their uncle, who leaves behind great nieces and nephews—Kadyen, Sean, Olivia, and Brad. A sister-in-law, Barbara (Patrick) Fitzgibbon, also survives him. Wayne was preceded in death by his parents, Wayne and Helen Stuart, and an infant daughter, Stacey Stuart. Due to the ongoing health crisis, his memorial services were held privately.
After retiring from firefighting, Wayne found joy in working at the Kurtz, Anderson, and Goodale Funeral Homes. There, he became a familiar face, driving funeral cars and warmly welcoming families during difficult times. In addition to this, Wayne was actively involved with the Senior Citizen Advisory Committee of Orland Park, giving back to his community in meaningful ways. Even after retirement, he remained committed to helping others.
Wayne's career spanned over four decades, beginning as a firefighter in Calumet City before becoming a lieutenant with the Skokie Fire Department, where he served from June 22, 1982, until September 25, 2007. His dedication earned him respect and admiration within the department. Friends and colleagues from the Skokie Fire Department expressed their grief through heartfelt posts, remembering him as someone who always went above and beyond. One such post read:
"It is with a heavy heart that we share the news of the sudden loss of our dear friend and colleague, retired Lieutenant Wayne Stuart. Lt. Stuart dedicated nearly three decades of his life to protecting the people of Skokie. Our thoughts are with his family and loved ones during this challenging time."
Looking back, Wayne's legacy extends beyond his professional achievements. He was a kind soul who touched countless lives. As we mourn his passing, we celebrate the memories he created and the positive impact he had on everyone around him. To honor Wayne's memory, you can send flowers to the family or plant a tree in his name at our Tribute Store.
Rest peacefully, Wayne. Your kindness and commitment will never be forgotten." High Speed Disperser,Fiber Laser Cutting Machine,Cutting Glass Machine,Automatic Cutting Machine Laizhou Parkson Machinery Technology Co., Ltd. , https://www.baishengsmc.comRemembering Wayne L. Stuart
