Fatal truck crash in Long Grove 6-10-14
A tractor-trailer collided with a dump truck this morning on Route 22 in Long Grove, resulting in a tragic fatality. According to the Lake County News Sun, the incident occurred around 8 a.m., when a 2005 semi-truck was heading east on Route 22 near Krueger Road. The driver lost control and veered into the westbound lanes, crashing into a dump truck. Despite the dump truck driver’s attempt to avoid the collision, both vehicles ended up on the roadside shoulder.
The semi-truck driver was trapped inside the cab for approximately 30 minutes before being rescued by emergency responders. He was transported to Advocate Condell Medical Center but later succumbed to his injuries. The dump truck driver suffered non-life-threatening injuries and was taken to Advocate Good Shepherd Hospital for treatment.
