2-11 Alarm fire in Chicago, 1-8-17 (part 3)

On Sunday morning, Engine 117 and the Tower arrived at a two-and-a-half-story balloon-frame home on the West Side, where heavy fire was reported in the rear and attic. Battalion 18 quickly called for a Still & Box, and shortly after, 2-2-4 requested another 2-11. The fire spread to the D-side exposure building, but crews on scene managed to save it largely. Tower 14 and Squad 2 deployed elevated master streams, while several handlines were also used to control the flames.

The incident involved multiple units working under challenging conditions, with firefighters using both elevated streams and handlines to contain the blaze. Several images from the scene show the intensity of the fire, including flames bursting through the roof and firefighters drenched in ice from the cold weather.
