This is from Larry Shapiro: Residents called the Wheeling Fire Department on Wednesday evening to report an explosion in the kitchen of a home at 293 Lincoln Road. When the first responding officer arrived, he observed smoke coming from the house and noted that one person required medical attention. Firefighters quickly arrived and confirmed a fire inside the split-level residence. A local ambulance transported the injured individual to a nearby hospital, and the incident was upgraded to a working fire. Firefighters used two interior lines to swiftly bring the flames under control. Units from Arlington Heights, Buffalo Grove, Lincolnshire-Riverwoods, and Northbrook joined the response, along with two fire engines, two ambulances, a ladder truck, and two chief officers from Wheeling. Here are some photos and a short video from the scene. Light smoke visible. Larry Shapiro photo Firefighters venting the roof. Larry Shapiro photo Engines from Wheeling and Northbrook.
