Trailer fire in Oak Lawn

It’s just past 1:00 AM in Oak Lawn, and I happened to be around when a semi-truck caught fire behind the Salvation Army Thrift Store at 8732 S. Cicero Avenue. I managed to snap a few photos while it was happening. Thankfully, Oak Lawn Central sent out a structure response as a precaution because the fire was right next to this massive strip mall. The truck was parked at the back loading dock, so there was concern about it spreading, but luckily, it stayed contained to the vehicle itself. The firefighters from Oak Lawn, Evergreen Park, and Hometown did an excellent job handling the situation. Here are some pictures I took during the incident: ![](https://example.com/image1.jpg) *Photo Credit: Thomas Grzadziel* ![](https://example.com/image2.jpg) *Photo Credit: Thomas Grzadziel* ![](https://example.com/image3.jpg) *Photo Credit: Thomas Grzadziel* As you can see, the flames were pretty intense, but thanks to the quick action of the emergency crews, the situation never escalated further. It's always reassuring to know that these firefighters are on standby, ready to respond at a moment's notice. The whole thing lasted maybe half an hour, and by the time the crews had everything under control, the sun was starting to peek over the horizon. It’s crazy how something like this can happen in the middle of the night and still get resolved before most people even wake up.
