Kenosha County Scout Leaders Rescue Squad

This message comes from Asher Heimermann:

The Scout Leaders Rescue Squad is a volunteer-driven, non-profit ambulance and dive team based in Kenosha County, serving not only the local area but also neighboring regions. They provide emergency medical services as a backup to local agencies and offer mutual aid during critical incidents. Their mission is rooted in community support and quick response, especially in water-related emergencies.

A local organization that has been providing volunteer medical and rescue services for almost 80 years is currently facing serious financial challenges.

The Kenosha County Scout Leaders Rescue Squad, originally established in the late 1930s, is struggling with a growing deficit due to rising costs in equipment, maintenance, and insurance. Despite their long-standing commitment, they’re finding it increasingly difficult to keep up with these expenses.

The group consists of around 15 dedicated members divided into two units: Emergency Medical Technicians and Underwater Search and Rescue. They offer emergency management services for events at $85 per hour and provide backup medical support across Kenosha and surrounding counties. They're often among the first on the scene during water-related emergencies.

Funds from event contracts go toward vehicle maintenance, fuel, medication, liability insurance, and workers' compensation. The organization has faced similar financial hurdles before—most notably in 2009, when the community rallied to help them stay afloat.

In 2005, they suffered a devastating fire that destroyed three vehicles and a 16-foot rescue boat, causing over $178,000 in equipment loss and an additional $150,000 in building damage.

According to a 1947 article in the Milwaukee Journal, the Scout Leaders Rescue Squad was founded by Howard Gatley, an executive with the Kenosha Boy Scouts Council, following a tragic train accident in 1930. That incident involved a car colliding with a passenger train, resulting in 14 deaths and 100 injuries on the North Shore electric lines.

Over time, the organization transitioned from being affiliated with the Boy Scouts of America and the Red Cross to becoming an independent nonprofit service provider.

Every spring, the Scout Leaders host a concert fundraiser, though this year’s date and location are still to be announced. In addition, they’ve launched a GoFundMe campaign titled “Kenosha County Scout Leaders Rescue” for those interested in supporting their cause.

Bulk Material Machinery

Bulk material machinery refers to equipment and machinery used to handle, transport, and process large quantities of materials in bulk form. This can include various types of machinery such as conveyors, feeders, crushers, screens, mixers, and storage systems.

These machines are commonly used in industries such as mining, construction, agriculture, and manufacturing, where large volumes of materials need to be moved, sorted, or processed efficiently. They are designed to handle a wide range of bulk materials, including minerals, ores, grains, chemicals, and construction materials.

Bulk material machinery is typically designed to be robust and durable, capable of handling heavy loads and operating in harsh environments. They are often automated or semi-automated to improve efficiency and reduce labor costs. Additionally, safety features are incorporated to protect workers and prevent accidents.
