House fire in Wheeling, 1-26-22

This is from Larry Shapiro:
The Wheeling Fire Department responded to a house fire at 40 Versailles Court just before 8:30 PM on Wednesday, January 26, 2022. The initial response included Glencoe Squad 30, Des Plaines Engine 61, Buffalo Grove Tower 25, Lincolnshire-Riverwoods Battalion 51, Mount Prospect Battalion 3, Arlington Heights Ambulance 2, and both Wheeling ambulances. However, most of the Wheeling units, including chief officers, were already at a separate structure fire in nearby Prospect Heights, just over a mile away.
As the Prospect Heights incident was winding down, command sent back some units to assist with the Wheeling fire. That included a Wheeling engine, chief officers, and Lincolnshire-Riverwoods Squad 51. Squad 24 arrived first but initially reported no visible flames. Upon approaching the home on foot, they noticed heavy smoke coming from the building and quickly connected to a hydrant in the cul-de-sac.
The alarm was upgraded to a working fire, prompting additional resources such as Mount Prospect Engine 14 and North Maine Engine 1, along with Wheeling Battalion 24, who had just cleared the Prospect Heights scene. Firefighters discovered a basement fire that was quickly brought under control. However, the fire had spread above the basement on the first floor, creating hazards for interior crews.
The entire house was filled with thick smoke, requiring extensive ventilation. Despite the challenging conditions, firefighters managed to contain the fire without any injuries reported.
