Carol Stream Fire District awards and promotions
Hey there,
I just got back from the Carol Stream Fire Protection District Awards and Swearing-In Ceremony held last Friday, May 22nd, 2015. It was quite an eventful evening, filled with recognition and new beginnings. I managed to snap some pictures that really captured the essence of the occasion.
First up, we had Retired Firefighter Leo Penkala being awarded a Unit Performance Award. He was recognized for his exceptional skills and proficiency during an incident—a well-deserved honor for someone who has clearly demonstrated excellence throughout their career.
Then came the swearing-in ceremony for five new firefighter/paramedics. These individuals are now officially part of the team: Michael Kucia, Daniel Patt, Tyler Poffenbarger, Daniel Nelson, and Adam Mullendore. They’re stepping into their roles with energy and dedication, ready to contribute to the district's mission.
In addition to the new recruits, there were promotions within the ranks. Chad Grandgeorge, Daniel Stelter, and James Jones were all promoted to lieutenant. It’s always inspiring to see hard work pay off like that. And rounding out the promotions, Lieutenant Robert Schulz moved up to become a battalion chief. His leadership qualities have been evident for years, so this promotion feels like a natural progression.
Congratulations to everyone involved! It’s moments like these that remind us how important it is to celebrate achievements and acknowledge the efforts of those who go above and beyond.
Here are some of the photos I took:

There were so many more memorable moments that night, but these images give you a glimpse into the spirit of the event. If you'd like to see more photos, let me know—I’ll be happy to share them!
Take care,
John
